The hGC Diet Stress and Weight
Life is very complicated and there are things throughout our life that we cannot control and when things don’t go the way that we’d like, it adds stress to the body. The body has a certain, what we call, physiological response to stress. Certain hormones are released and the body reacts accordingly to that stress. The common misconception is that psychological and physiological stress are somehow different.
The only way that they’re different are how they are brought upon the body. But the body responds to both psychological and physical stress in the same exact manner. The same exact hormones are released and the body is going to react to both stimuli, both psychological and physical stress in the same way. The body cannot tell the difference between the two, except, of course, through the healing process of physical stress.
You have soreness and the body will repair that muscle tissue. However, because we understand that the body responds to psychological and physical stress in the same exact manner, we understand that when individuals go through stressful times throughout the life or work-related stress, family-related stress or physical regimen related stress, weight can come off if those stresses are not handled in the proper manner. If we do not allow the body to recover from these stresses in a proper manner, it can cause an adverse reaction.
Cortisol levels pick up, the way the body metabolizes carbohydrates and sugars begins, it becomes different. Epinephrine is released and what ends up happening is there becomes an excessive amount of sugar in the blood, that the body cannot use immediately and thus, it gets converted and stored as body fat. This can add weight to the body. Stress in general can add fat mass to the body if it is not handled properly like stress related to weight loss.
